Studenten Geschiedenis Nederland (SGN)

In het SGN (opgericht in 1936) bestuur zitten afgevaardigden van alle studieverenigingen Geschiedenis uit heel Nederland. Het SGN bestuur is een overlegorgaan waar de verschillende verenigingen problemen en oplossingen voor deze problemen kunnen aandragen. Ook wordt er ieder jaar een SGN-dag georganiseerd door een van de studieverenigingen. Dit jaar organiseert de UHSK de SGN-dag in Utrecht.
 
Op vrijdag 15 maart is iedereen welkom in ons mooie Nijmegen en organiseert de SGN-werkgroep een toffe dag voor alle geschiedenisstudenten! Meer informatie over deze dag zal later bekend worden gemaakt.
 
De verschillende verenigingen die bij de SGN zijn aangesloten zijn als volgt:
 

Kleio (Amsterdam (UvA))

Kleio is de studievereniging voor (kunst)geschiedenisstudenten aan de Universiteit van Amsterdam. De vereniging is in 1929 opgericht en maakt deel uit van de Faculteit der Geesteswetenschappen. Kleio, die haar naam ontleent aan de muze van de geschiedschrijving, is met haar 600 leden een van de grootste verenigingen van de Faculteit der Geesteswetenschappen. De vereniging kent meerdere commissies die zich door het jaar heen inzetten om verschillende activiteiten te organiseren waaronder 7 reisjes. Kleio tracht in het bruisende Amsterdam een toegankelijk karakter te behouden.

VSGVU Merlijn (Amsterdam (VU))

VSGVU Merlijn is de super-gezellige studievereniging Geschiedenis van de Vrije Universiteit. Naast de vele feesten, activiteiten en borrels wordt er ook veel aandacht geschonken aan studie-inhoudelijke activiteiten.
 

UHSK (Utrecht)

De UHSK, ofwel de Utrechtse Historische Studentenkring, is de studievereniging van Geschiedenis in Utrecht. De vereniging is opgericht in 1926 en telt 1400 leden. Met 21 commissies en ongeveer 100 evenementen per jaar probeert de UHSK zowel op sociaal als educatief gebied actief te zijn. De UHSK-kamer ligt in het historisch centrum van Utrecht.

ACE (Rotterdam)
In februari 1982 werd de studievereniging voor maatschappijgeschiedenis opgericht, genaamd de Faculteitsvereniging Maatschappijgeschiedenis Rotterdam. In 1990/1991 is de studie Kunst & Cultuurwetenschappen toegetreden tot de faculteit, dit resulteerde in een ‘nieuwe’ verenigde studievereniging genaamd: histartes, een combinatie tussen history en arts. Daarnaast verwelkomde de faculteit in 2009 opnieuw een nieuwe bachelor, namelijk: communicatiewetenschappen afgekort tot IBCoM. Om de vereniging toegankelijker te maken voor deze voornamelijk buitenlandse studenten, werd in 2014 besloten om de naam te veranderen in International Faculty Association ACE. Momenteel als studievereniging van de Erasmus faculteit geschiedenis, cultuur en communicatie heeft ACE ongeveer 800 leden met 12 actieve commissies. Deze commissies organiseren gedurende het academische jaar alle evenementen.
 

HSVL (Leiden)

De Historische Studievereniging Leiden is opgericht in 1989 als samenwerking tussen vier historische disputen. Gedurende het jaar organiseren wij vele activiteiten, feesten, reizen, boekverkopen en nog veel meer. De HSVL telt ruim 900 leden, 11 commissies en 6 bestuursleden. Op de oudste universiteit van Nederland, zijn wij te vinden in het prachtige gebouw; het Huizinga. Wees vooral welkom voor een befaamd kopje hokkoffie wanneer je een keer in het mooie Leiden bent.

 

GHD Ubbo Emmius (Groningen)

Een van de zeven studieverenigingen die aangesloten is bij SGN, is GHD Ubbo Emmius. Dé studievereniging voor geschiedenisstudenten uit Groningen met momenteel 800 leden. Ubbo Emmius was de eerste rector magnificus aan de Rijksuniversiteit en sinds 1936 draagt deze vereniging zijn naam.

 

 

Students History Netherlands (SGN)

The SGN (founded in 1936) board includes delegates from all history study associations from all over the Netherlands. The SGN board is a consultative body where the various associations can put forward problems and solutions to these problems. An SGN day is also organised every year by one of the study associations. This year, the UHSK is organising the SGN day in Utrecht.
 

On Friday 15 March, everyone is welcome in our beautiful Nijmegen and the SGN working group will organise a cool day for all history students! More information about this day will be announced later.

The various societies affiliated to the SGN are as follows:

Kleio (Amsterdam (UvA))

Kleio is the study association for (art) history students at the University of Amsterdam. The association was founded in 1929 and is part of the Faculty of Humanities. Kleio, which takes its name from the muse of historiography, is one of the largest associations in the Faculty of Humanities with its 600 members. The association has several committees that work throughout the year to organise various activities including seven trips. Kleio tries to maintain an accessible character in bustling Amsterdam.

VSGVU Merlijn (Amsterdam (VU))

VSGVU Merlijn is the super-enjoyable study association History of the Free University. Besides the many parties, activities and drinks, a lot of attention is paid to study-related activities.
 

UHSK (Utrecht)

The UHSK, or the Utrechtse Historische Studentenkring, is the study association of History in Utrecht. The association was founded in 1926 and has 1400 members. With 21 committees and around 100 events a year, the UHSK tries to be active both socially and educationally. The UHSK room is located in the historical centre of Utrecht.

ACE (Rotterdam)
In February 1982, the society history study association was founded,  called the Faculty Association for Social History Rotterdam. In 1990/1991, the Arts & Cultural Sciences study joined the faculty, resulting in a ‘new’ united study association called: histartes, a combination between history and arts. In addition, the faculty welcomed another new bachelor in 2009, namely: communication sciences abbreviated to IBCoM. To make the association more accessible to these mainly foreign students, it was decided in 2014 to change the name to International Faculty Association ACE. Currently as the study association of the Erasmus Faculty of History, Culture and Communication, ACE has around 800 members with 12 active committees. These committees organise all events during the academic year.
 

HSVL (Leiden)

The Historical Study association Leiden was founded in 1989 as a collaboration between four historical disputes. During the year, we organise many activities, parties, trips, book sales and much more. The HSVL has over 900 members, 11 committees and six board members. At the oldest university in the Netherlands, we can be found in the beautiful building; the Huizinga. Be especially welcome for a famous cup of ‘hokkoffie’ whenever you are in beautiful Leiden.

 

GHD Ubbo Emmius (Groningen)

One of the seven study associations affiliated with SGN is GHD Ubbo Emmius. The study association for history students from Groningen with currently 800 members. Ubbo Emmius was the first rector magnificus at the Rijksuniversiteit and this association has carried his name since 1936.
